William R. Jacobi, Managing Director

Bill Jacobi has over 35 years of experience in the insurance industry specializing in claims management. He has built and led numerous claims organizations for several major insurance carriers during his career. He has been particularly effective in complex claim environments ranging from Asbestos, Pollution, Class Action Securities Litigation, Construction, and other Mass Tort Claims.

Bill has led projects streamlining claims processing, improving cost structures, implementing litigation management strategies, and improving customer satisfaction.

During his twenty-five year career at insurance industry leader AIG, Bill led every major claims area of expertise in the Property and Casualty lines. He now brings this expertise to the consulting practice, where he plans to generate solutions to the complex challenges faced by the clients of The Princeton Partnership, LLC.

Career Highlights - Bill began his career in insurance claims at Travelers Insurance where he held a number of positions in claims adjusting and supervision. His first exposure to complex litigated claims included asbestos, Agent Orange and silicosis cases in the Cumulative Injury Unit.

Bill joined Continental Insurance to help form the Environmental Claims Department which included managing all mass tort exposures for Continental Insurance policyholders. During his time as VP of Environmental Claims, Bill began working on the industry solution for asbestos litigation which led in 1985 to the creation of the Asbestos Claims Facility as a joint insurance and manufacturer partnership. Eventually, he was selected to be the Chief Claims Officer for both the Facility and its successor, The Center for Claims Resolution. These organizations were responsible for resolving hundreds of thousands of asbestos bodily injury claims in all 50 states, managing defense firms in both Federal and State Courts, and developing programs designed to compensate those individuals with provable asbestos related diseases.

In 1989, Bill joined AIG to manage all of their mass tort claims in the newly established Mass Tort and Environmental Claims Departments. His stewardship saw the size of the departments grow from 20 people to over 200 by 1992.

From 1992 until 2002, Bill headed up each of AIG’s major claim groups. He introduced specialization to Financial Lines Claims where the complexity of a loss was matched to the experience and skills of the claim handler. Departments were organized along various product lines, and claim department input into the underwriting process, as well as new product development, became standard operating practice. Later, the same strategies were introduced into the major Casualty Lines.

Beginning in 2002 and continuing until 2014, Bill established, staffed, and managed the Reinsurance Claims Department for AIG Property Casualty. In the early years, the staff focused on domestic reinsurance claims. Because of his long career working with Mass Tort, Environmental and Complex claims, he contributed significantly to improving recoveries on the most difficult and expensive claim matters. As AIG became more globally focused in recent years, International Reinsurance was added to his portfolio in 2012.

Education - Bill received his bachelor’s degree from Saint Peter’s University, Jersey City, New Jersey.
